Mezaparks Master Plan
Riga, Latvia 2006
Mezaparks Masterplan Competition,
Shared 1st prize
Area: ~40 ha
Total sq m: 1 200 000
Workers: 3 000
Inhabitants: 10 000
The main principle in the competition entry is to lift up roads and ground up above all parking areas. This results in an ecological green and car free environment in most of the area. The main street is organized into an arched boulevard, starting from Ķīšezera Iela towards northwest, making a sensitively arched bow through the whole site and finally connecting to Kokneses Prospekts. The new main boulevard serves the main traffic, accessing nearly all the blocks inside the arch and also an office area in the western parts. A connection point in north ties the boulevard to the old Mežapark housing areas.
