NordBuild Ltd and Eriksson Architects Ltd into strategic partnership
NordBuild Ltd and Eriksson Architects Ltd have established a strategic partnership to promote energy efficient construction. The European Union’s aim of all new buildings meeting nearly zero-energy requirements by the year 2020 has a significant impact on the energy efficiency solutions. The building regulations that come into effect by 2012, based on so-called “E-figure”, also take account of renewable energy and thus give wider opportunities to reach the required energy efficiency level. These tightening norms together with the accumulating energy costs emphasises the importance of the energy estimation already during the concept phase.
The new “NB Plan” -service offers tools for simulating energy efficiency solutions and analysing life cycle costs of a property during the concept phase of new building or a refurbishment project. The new starting point is to shift the fcus from structural impermability to holistic simulation of energy balance, where external conditions, primary energy sources and novel technical solutions are fused into energy efficient spatial design.
Nordbuild and Eriksson Architects realise and develop the simulation service together, utilising each party’s expertise and BIM-knowledge . The simulation service will form a major part of a service process, the NordBuild E-process. E-process is a comprehensive energy efficiency management system, with which the clients can lower their energy costs. The customer gets an energy efficiency strategy, objectives and a management model that supports the process. The energy efficiency simulation – NB Plan – supports the definition of the objectives and helps anticipating the impact of different measures and technical solutions. Other E-Process modules, E-Analyzer and E-manager, help the clients to monitor how their objectives are met in existing buildings. The whole E-process is supported by Nordbuild’s own E-Screen IT-solution, a SaaS-based solution.
